Care Instructions for Aloe Vera
Light
Aloe Vera likes lots of light, but not more than 2-3 hours a day of direct sunlight. Aloe in direct sunlight will experience some burn. Bright indirect sunlight such as a covered porch or patio is ideal outdoors. Indoors, as much light as possible.
Watering
Aloe Vera is quite drought tolerant. It is important to let the plant completely dry out between watering sessions. Water the plant thoroughly and allow it to drain completely and dry out. The 4” pot when planted indoors should be watered about twice a month. Outdoors, more frequent watering in the summer of maybe once per week is generally preferred.
Growth/Dividing
Your Aloe plant will grow steadily if it is given proper light and moisture. Expect to transplant this plant in about a years time. It will reproduce by creating an offset that is attached to the mother plant. Sever them from the mother plant with a knife. Allow the cuts on the offsets and the mother plant to callus over for a day or two, then pot them in a standard potting mix and place in a bright sunny location. Keep the soil on the dry side and do not water for a week or two after transplanting.
